OH BUMMER!: BEAUTIFUL DAY

Musically this sometimes reminds me of Eels because of the chord progressions and the great low tones that carry this tune. Lyrically and cadence wise this is more in line with Pharell meets Bill Withers. The lyrics are uplifting and this is less jokey than the previous single “Mirrors”. The gang vocal of “Mirrors” chorus is replaced by smooth R&B that can pass for a major label pop song. For me the real hook is the use of major to minor chords in the organ and the warm tone in the verses. The chorus really pops mostly because of that one minor chord in the verse and I can really appreciate that. Looking forward to eventually hearing a full album form Oh Bummer!
