From Indian Lakes Returns with Stunning New Album "Head Void" and Summer Tour!

After a long period of dormancy, From Indian Lakes (FIL) returns with "Head Void," an album that crystallizes their evolution in the modern indie landscape. Released today, "Head Void" has already earned the distinction of Stereogum’s “Album of the Week,” hailed as “an entrancing, rewarding body of work.” The LP is a sonic journey, intertwining elements of shoegaze, emo, and chillwave, drawing comparisons to contemporary acts like DIIV and Nothing.

Produced in the newly completed home studio of frontman Joey Vann, nestled in California's central valley near Yosemite National Park, "Head Void" captures the essence of Vann's creative sanctuary. Mastering by Will Yip ensures a polished yet authentic sound that resonates deeply.

This release marks FIL's first major project since their 2019 tour, showcasing a significant evolution from their earlier works. Vann’s time away from FIL was spent crafting music under his own name, a solo endeavor that allowed him to refine his songwriting and explore different musical textures. His solo work, characterized by a minimalist approach, now subtly informs the lush soundscapes of "Head Void."

Vann's return to the FIL moniker was driven by a longing to revisit the full-band dynamic. He credits his time spent living with friends in his hometown, and the freedom of his own studio, as pivotal in reigniting his passion for the project. “Once my studio was finished and I had my drums and microphones set up, I finally had a space to get loud again,” Vann explains.

The result is an album that feels both fresh and familiar, a blend of the introspective lyricism and expansive instrumentation that FIL fans have come to cherish. "Head Void" not only revives the spirit of From Indian Lakes but pushes it into new, exciting territories.

In support of "Head Void," From Indian Lakes will embark on a summer tour with Dirt Buyer and King of Heck, marking their first live performances since 2019. Additionally, they are slated to appear at the Best Friends Forever Fest this fall, promising to bring their revitalized sound to an eager audience.

"Head Void" is available now, and with its release, From Indian Lakes solidifies their place in the indie music scene, offering a compelling blend of nostalgia and innovation.
