Alvvays Drop ‘Pharmacist’, Announce October release for Blue Rev By Dana M. English

There’s no better time to drop a perfect single about fresh starts than on the day you announce your first record in five years; which is precisely what happened when Alvvays dropped “Pharmacist” – the optimistic opening track of upcoming album, Blue Rev, due for release Oct 7 via Transgressive.

“Pharmacist” might be the most texture-rich track from the Canadian bedroom pop darlings to date, boasting layers of noisy, overblown guitar and wavy string bends that culminate in a kickass solo at the 1:35 mark. While Alvvays has ventured further into the realm of shoegaze than ever before with “Pharmacist,” longtime fans will be delighted to find vocalist Molly Rankin right back to her signature heart-stealing ways, sweetly reassuring us with the chorus: "you know it happens all the time / it’s alright."

Check out “Pharmacist” below:

Well done, Alvvays. Judging by this, we can’t wait for Blue Rev. Blue Rev will be released via Transgressive/Polyvinyl October 7.
