Belle and Chain Introduce Their Haunting Alt-Country Sound on Debut Single “Don’t You Worry Babe”

LA duo Belle and Chain arrive with “Don’t You Worry Babe,” a gothic alt-country debut built around gentle heartbreak, atmospheric guitars, and emotional recovery.

Los Angeles duo Belle and Chain have released their debut single, “Don’t You Worry Babe,” out now through Not Dead Yet Media and Notes From The Underground. The release arrives while the band tours North America supporting Barns Courtney, giving audiences an early introduction to their dark and windswept sound.

Blending gothic rock, alt-country, and atmospheric folk influences, Belle and Chain create music that feels dusty, spacious, and emotionally raw. “Don’t You Worry Babe” centers around the quiet end of a relationship, but instead of turning toward bitterness or dramatic heartbreak, the song approaches separation with tenderness and acceptance. Soft vocals drift across shimmering guitars and restrained instrumentation, giving the track a lonely but comforting atmosphere.

The project began as a solo creative outlet for actor, filmmaker, and musician Spencer Grammer before evolving into a full collaboration with multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Davis IL. Together, the pair shape songs that balance intimacy with cinematic mood, pulling from both Americana and darker alternative rock textures.

For Grammer, music became deeply personal following a violent attack in 2020 that left her with severe injuries to her arm and hand. During her recovery process, she began learning guitar as part of rehabilitation, eventually discovering songwriting as a way to process trauma and rebuild confidence. What started as healing gradually transformed into the foundation for Belle and Chain.

That emotional honesty runs throughout “Don’t You Worry Babe.” The song avoids overcomplicated lyrics or dramatic gestures, instead relying on mood, space, and subtle songwriting choices to communicate its emotional weight. The result feels reflective rather than defeated.

While this is the band’s first official release, Belle and Chain already sound remarkably assured in their identity. Their mix of gothic atmosphere and Americana songwriting creates something that feels both familiar and distinct, equally suited for dimly lit clubs and long nighttime drives through empty desert roads.

Fans of Mazzy Star, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, and Weyes Blood may find themselves drawn into Belle and Chain’s slow-burning world. “Don’t You Worry Babe” is out now.
