Tea Eater Unleashes Surreal New Single and Video for “Little White Dog (In a Gated Community)”

Brooklyn’s Tea Eater has released a new single, “Little White Dog (In a Gated Community),” along with an unsettling yet fascinating music video. The track, led by vocalist and guitarist Tarra Thiessen, blends elements of art punk and psychedelic rock, delivering a warped, fuzz-heavy sound wrapped in surreal storytelling.

The song’s lyrics describe a strange transformation—moving between lives, shedding old identities, and accepting whatever stage of existence one is in. Thiessen explains, “The verses describe the void between lives when you have to ‘push your face up’ and pick a new ‘soul container,’ in this case, the body of a little white dog in a gated community.” The song's dreamlike quality is mirrored in the video, which uses a fisheye lens and shifting colors to create an otherworldly experience. Shot in cemeteries and playgrounds, the visuals feature human-like dogs engaging in everyday activities, making for an eerie yet oddly humorous viewing experience.

Musically, “Little White Dog (In a Gated Community)” is packed with buzzing guitars and hypnotic rhythms. The song’s raw energy recalls the Velvet Underground’s hazy atmosphere with a dose of Brian Jonestown Massacre’s unfiltered grit. Tea Eater’s ability to combine distortion, groove, and theatrical storytelling makes them stand out in Brooklyn’s underground scene.

This new single follows the January release of “The Waffle Song,” both of which will appear on Tea Eater’s upcoming album, I Don’t Believe in Bad Luck, due out March 28, 2025. The record explores themes of frustration, unpredictability, and the absurdity of life through a mix of humor and chaotic energy. The album will also be accompanied by a limited-edition tarot deck, with reimagined suits like waffles for pentacles and bugs for swords, reflecting the band’s unconventional approach to storytelling.

Tea Eater’s latest work is a sharp, playful take on art punk, balancing sharp commentary with vibrant noise. Their music is unpredictable, messy, and refreshingly weird—qualities that make them one of the most exciting acts in the scene today.
