Love Spells, the indie dream pop project of 20-year-old singer-songwriter Sir Taegen C’aion Harris, has released a new single, “Lovers Only,” along with a striking music video. The song, which explores the pain of love fading away, debuted on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 as his latest “World Record.”
“Lovers Only” is a soft, atmospheric track where Harris’ airy vocals float over gentle guitar and subdued percussion. The lyrics, “I walk a road that’s meant for lovers only,” capture the longing and sadness that come with love slipping through one’s fingers. The song’s visual, inspired by 1970s independent cinema, features expressive choreography set against New York City landmarks, giving it a timeless and cinematic feel.
Harris describes the song as deeply personal, saying, “‘Lovers Only’ is about the pain of a faltering love. Love is not meant to break us, but its struggles can pierce deeply, leaving wounds on the soul that never fully heal.”
The single follows the 2024 release of “With Only Your Mouth,” which was praised for its spacey, guitar-driven sound and Harris’ delicate vocals. Love Spells has also gained attention for his collaboration with Deb Never on “Dope Sick” for the Pigeons & Planes presents: See You Next Year 2 compilation and his recent tour with Kacy Hill.
Harris has been steadily building momentum, with Pigeons & Planes naming him one of their “24 Rising Artists to Watch in 2024.” His earlier song “Come Over and Love Me” also landed on The FADER’s list of the “20 Best Rock Songs Right Now.”
In May, Love Spells will take his music on the road, opening for Sharon Van Etten & The Attachment Theory on their North American tour. The tour kicks off in Brooklyn at Brooklyn Steel on May 2 and wraps up in Los Angeles at The Wiltern on May 21.
With Lovers Only, Love Spells continues to craft intimate, dreamy music that feels both nostalgic and fresh. His blend of indie rock, psychedelia, and dream pop makes him a unique voice in today’s music scene—one that is only growing stronger with each release.
