New York hardcore punk band ChumHuffer is back with Slaughterhouse Five, their third EP, set to drop in May 2025 through their independent label, DWY Records. Inspired by Kurt Vonnegut’s famous novel, the record draws parallels between the chaos of war and today’s global conflicts. Known for their aggressive sound and sharp social commentary, ChumHuffer continues to push boundaries with music that is as urgent as it is unfiltered.
The band has already released the lead single, “Slaughterhouse,” giving fans a taste of what’s to come. The track is intense, with biting guitars, pounding drums, and lyrics that don’t hold back. Hardcore Worldwide premiered the video, which captures the band’s raw energy and confrontational spirit.
Vocalist and guitarist Joe Dorane describes the record as a response to the constant cycle of violence in the world. “When you step back and look at everything happening, it’s impossible not to feel buried by the nonstop conflicts—both globally and in our own heads. This record is our way of dealing with that reality.”
Singer Shawn Refuse adds, “Much like Billy Pilgrim in Slaughterhouse-Five, we feel stuck in time. The album explores the clash between past, present, and what could be, while also wrestling with how to hold onto personal values when everything feels like it’s falling apart.”
Formed by members of Blackout Shoppers, Refuse Resist, and Urban Waste, ChumHuffer is known for fusing '80s punk energy with a modern, aggressive edge. Their music is fast, confrontational, and deeply rooted in social criticism.
With Slaughterhouse Five, the band continues to prove why they stand out in today’s hardcore punk scene. Their ability to blend blistering instrumentation with thought-provoking themes makes them essential listening for fans of raw, unfiltered punk. Pre-orders for the EP open on February 15 at ChumHuffer.com.
