Surrender The Ghost Signs with PNWK Records, Gears Up for Explosive 2025!

Columbus, Ohio-based band Surrender The Ghost has just signed with indie label PNWK Records, marking a new chapter in their musical journey. The band, known for its tight-knit brotherhood, has spent years building a strong foundation through friendship and shared love for music. Their recent single, “We Don’t Do Pity,” is already turning heads, and fans can check out a new live video of the track, filmed by Alex Scalzo and edited by Robert Bowling, on YouTube.

Surrender The Ghost consists of Matthew Ellis on guitar, Tony Chaffin on guitar, Brandon Eldridge on bass, Mark Johnston on drums, and Ricky Gonzales on vocals. Each member brings a unique story to the table, with the band's formation being a testament to the enduring power of old friendships and chance encounters.

Matthew Ellis, the driving force behind the band, initially stepped away from music in 2017. However, a spontaneous jam session in 2020 rekindled his passion for creating music. Soon after, he reached out to longtime friend Tony Chaffin, whose guitar skills and quick wit made him a perfect fit for the project. With two guitarists on board, they recruited Mark Johnston on drums, despite his long hiatus from playing. As the trio started taking shape, they brought in Brandon Eldridge on bass, after a series of lively discussions that led to their collaboration. The final piece of the puzzle came when Ellis met Ricky Gonzales at a bar, sealing the deal for the band’s new vocalist.

Surrender The Ghost brings a refreshing energy to the post-hardcore scene, blending raw emotion with tight, dynamic instrumentation that makes them stand out in a genre often filled with predictable sounds. Their ability to channel both intensity and melody sets them apart, promising a bright future as they push the boundaries of their music.

With their EP Don’t Mind Me recorded at Reel Love in Dayton, Ohio, Surrender The Ghost is gearing up for an exciting future. Fans can expect new music in early 2025, along with a live show in November supporting MAE, following a recent stint with Saosin. Keep an eye on this rising band as they continue to grow their presence.
